Vintage Surf Report
It's that time of the year when vintage work takes priority over everything else - even surfing. Usually this is a cause of bitterness and imagined missed surfs of epic conditions. However this year the swell has thankfully (for us) been in the small to medium range all February and early March with lots of small windy flat days. One highlight was the late January Iggy cyclone that generated another epic north swell. Again the northern area of the Cape was host to stacked up lines from the north-west. Right hand barrels were reeling off in the most unlikely of places. The swell was best around lunchtime and then started to shift a bit more west into the afternoon.
As usual when the Pro Tour comes to town in late March the surf arrived generating two good size swells with perfect winds right in the competition window. Kelly Slater was quoted saying that he couldn't imagine Margaret River Point getting any better surf conditions. If only the grapes would stop coming in and we could have a surf!
